Export and TAP grants
18/01/2012
Dear colleagues and friends, We're back on our heads after the annual lull and I'm sure that, like me, during the holidays you caught some of the appraisals of our economic prospects for the future, the fears for existing markets and the need to pay attention to new exporting opportunities that seem set to keep us very sober (or very drunk) this year. I find it all very bewildering and potentially depressing but we continue to work for the interests of pro-audio manufacturers in the context of securing government support for our niche sector. Well, as you may have seen in a message from Francesca Smith (our Administrator) last year, we have persuaded Department for Business, Innovation and Skills, via its export team at UKTI, to provide tranches of support for exporters in a number of new territories. We are sending a recce crew to Musikmesse at the invitation of Cordelia von Gymnich to assess ways to add value to their show and we have secured grant and event funding for Budapest and San Francisco. We also have a commitment for support to explore government priority markets in Brazil, Mexico and Middle East and the Asian BRICs. Having opened these doors, we need YOU to walk through them - and as far as Budapest is concerned the timescale is short. Please think carefully about this show. I know there has been disappointment about the European AESs in recent years but, despite it being an AES, the east European market has been outrageously under-exploited in our sector since Berlin many years ago. We will have grants available for qualifying applicants and we will be providing an exhibition floor hospitality suite and a networking reception for all UK attendees. Please apply early (see attached application form and T&Cs from UKTI). The APRS is still hoping to co-ordinate an 'Export Summit' so that we can take full advantage of government support ensuring it is tailored to your specific needs. If you can participate in this exercise (probably a morning/lunch either in Central London or at a friendly manufacturer near High Wycombe) - PLEASE let us know immediately - call or email Francesca (01803 868600 - . Thanks for you time - Francesca's first message can be viewed in the original content of this post and the TAP Grant forms can be obtained by emailing either Francesca or dropping Wes a note here on MyAPRS. Best wishes for the New Year. Peter Filleul and the APRS Board.

Thinking about your Exporting plans for 2012?
16/12/2011
The APRS has not only secured GRANTS but is also looking at NEW markets. Would you like to join our Export Summit in January? Exhibitor grants available for AES Budapest Against the tide of budgetary cuts, the APRS has secured TAP scheme support for the first East European exhibition for many years, AES Budapest, and a further resource to offer a Special Event during the show. Qualifying UK companies can apply for grants (between £1000 and £1800 depending upon take-up) towards the cost of their stand, as well as taking advantage of contact and meeting services provided by the British Consulate and UKTI. We understand the format for the exhibition will be much more cost-effective with all stands being either Shell Scheme or table-top. Q: Are you interested in applying for a grant? Interest Call for AES Budapest The prospect of an AES Convention in Europe may not usually make the blood run hot but, after a couple of disappointing years in London, the move to Budapest opens up a gateway to many under-exposed eastern European markets. Q: Would you be interested in attending AES Budapest as an exhibitor or a visitor? Early adopters: regular exporters, Colin Broad of CB Electronics and Andy Munro from Munro Acoustics, have already welcomed the potential of the Budapest trip as a ‘no-brainer’, especially with the financial assistance that will be available via the APRS and the focus of a UK hosted special event at the show. We need your feedback on future export support In order to shape these resources to the best effect the APRS needs to acquire considered feedback from the industry. Other issues including scoping trips to key new markets in Brazil, China and India and the possibility of expanding the pro-audio presence at the Frankfurt Music/Pro Light and Sound also figure in the APRS’s busy agenda for 2012. New Horizons Manufacturers Summit - Europe/Asia The APRS, in cooperation with the UKTI team, plans to hold an Export Summit in the New Year to take soundings and answer FAQs about barriers to export in all the developing and established markets. Q: Are you interested in attending the APRS Pro-Audio Export Summit? Please contact Francesca Smith admin@aprs.co.uk or 01803 868600 asap. We look forward to hearing from you soon.
